Public Prayer for Peace 2014
Sister Rebecca Gabe, SSND, leads a procession carrying origami peace cranes at the Public Prayer for Peace.
We are living in a time of many wars and the call for peace must be shouted. Peace sometimes gives the impression of being quiet, but it is never quiet, peace is always proactive.”
In response to the many situations of violence and unrest throughout our world, and in commemoration of the International Day of Peace on September 21, the School Sisters of Notre Dame hosted a Public Prayer for Peace on Friday, Sept. 19, at Notre Dame of Elm Grove, Wisconsin.
Participants included students from Notre Dame Middle School, St. Mary’s Visitation Grade School, SSNDs associates, friends and staff in this inspiring public prayer for peace. Origami peace cranes were distributed to the participants at the Public Prayer for Peace.
Sister Rebecca Gabe, SSND, had spent time at Notre Dame Middle School and St. Mary's teaching the the children to make the cranes.
For more than 10 years, the School Sisters of Notre Dame have organized an annual Public Prayer for Peace in Elm Grove – giving witness to unity in our divided world through reflection, prayer and a commitment to living peace.
