Consecrated Life Concert
In anticipation of the World Day for Consecrated Life, religious communities of women and men in the Milwaukee Archdiocese, including the School Sisters of Notre Dame, will present a musical celebration at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27, in the historic St. Joseph Chapel.
“In Joyful Hope” will feature a 70-voice massed choir along with the School Sisters of St. Francis (SSSF) Chapel Singers and vocal and instrumental soloists. School Sisters of Notre Dame participating in this event include Sisters Jean Ellman, Joan Frey, Marianne Kempa, Marilyn Kessler, Doris Jean LeBrun, Barbara Linke, Patty Rass, Debra Sciano, Marianne Siegel and Elise Zettel. In addition to singing with the group, Sister Debra also will be doing a solo, The Prayer.
The concert is free and open to the public.
“Presenting this concert is an opportunity for women and men religious of the archdiocese to give witness to our life in a manner that reflects the integrity and joy of our call and our ministry,” said Sister Mary Jane Wagner, SSSF, director of the SSSF Music Ministry and an organizer of the event. “We welcome everyone to join us as we sing and play as a joyful witness of our faith and our lives.”
World Day for Consecrated Life will be celebrated in the Church on Saturday, Feb. 2, and in parishes on the weekend of Feb. 2-3. Please pray for all those who have made commitments in the consecrated life, and be sure to thank them on their special day. May they continue to be inspired by Jesus Christ and respond generously to God's gift of their vocation.
The Jan. 27 event is at St. Joseph Chapel, which is located at St. Joseph Center, the international SSSF motherhouse, 1501 S. Layton Blvd. (Greenfield Avenue at 27th Street), Milwaukee. Ample free parking is available in the SSSF lot at 29th Street and Orchard Street.
