The chapel at the motherhouse was built in 1956.
Canadian talents and materials were used: Peter Tillman, architect, London, Ontario; Pigott Construction Company, Hamilton, Ontario; Dora de Pedery-Hunt, Hungarian-born interior designer and sculptor; Yvonne Williams, stained glass artist, Toronto, Ontario. The organ was built by Casavant Frères, Limitée of St. Hyacinthe, Quebec.

Approximately 2,400 coloured 3-inch squares were used for each stained-glass window. Each window depicts a person who has significance to the SSNDs of the Canadian Province.
The chapel is the heart of the motherhouse. It is a place of liturgical worship and prayerful contemplation.
